Biography
Josh McKay, frontman of the Athens, GA band Macha, pursues his solo work through unconventional ambient textures rather than Eastern dulcimers and their attendant lethargy. The 2002 debut The Ride incorporates an unplanned guest vocal by Haco, a member of After Dinner, on the track "The Day." Threatening swells of sound, piano, and McKay's gentle, detached delivery trace the collapse of a romantic relationship while recalling the texture of Labradford with the emotional weight of Low. In March of 2002, McKay joined fellow slowcore artists the New Year and Pedro the Lion on tour.
