Biography
Second Woman comprises Turk Dietrich of Belong and Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, a pair of electronic music producers whose exploratory work has earned widespread regard since the '90s rise of benchmark IDM figures Aphex Twin and Autechre. Their partnership reaches back to the early 2000s and possibly further. Under the name Benelli they supplied a remix of Nine Inch Nails' "The Frail" along with music for the Quake 4 video-game soundtrack. Following the Black Queen's album release by one of Eustis' other projects, Second Woman issued its self-titled debut on Spectrum Spools in June 2016; the set was introduced by the tautly rhythmic and densely detailed track "700358bc5." Critics greeted the album enthusiastically, and early 2017 brought the digital follow-up E/P, which included reworkings by Jlin and Fluxion. Footwork and dub-techno currents shaped the duo's sophomore full-length S/W, issued that April. Tresor put out their Instant/Apart EP the next year.
