Biography
Seks Bomba emerged in 1996 from Allston, MA, as a largely instrumental ensemble fusing surf, lounge, film, bossa nova, pop, swing, and rock. Positioned between Brave Combo’s rapid genre shifts and the knowing retro affectation of fellow New Englanders Combustible Edison, the group took its name from the single recognizable phrase guitarist George Hall encountered while scanning a Czech magazine. Hall, singer/guitarist Chris Cote (also active in the parody heavy metal band the Upper Crust), organist/flutist Lori Perkins, bassist Matt Silbert, and drummer Brett Campbell issued their debut self-titled EP later that year on the independent Dahlia Records label they founded. The band’s first full-length, Operation: B.O.M.B.A., appeared in 1999, followed two years later by the album Somewhere in This Town.
