Having performed music solely as part of a guitar trio at church services, Joan Morbée launched Senses in 1994. After intensive songwriting sessions and a couple of personnel shifts during 1995, the band captured a demo that earned positive reactions, yet mounting internal strains triggered its dissolution. Choosing a temporary hiatus to reassess, Morbée later recruited fresh players and resumed rehearsals. The revived lineup soon began live shows while discussing plans for a full-length album, but friction reemerged and the group disbanded once more in 1996. Even so, before the year ended she had assembled another roster of musicians to finalize the project she had long pursued. The completed album, Fields Unsown, affirms Morbée’s strength as both songwriter and performer while indicating a promising path ahead for Senses.
