Biography
An Arizona trio later known as Seven Storey Mountain brings together vocalist/guitarist Lance Lammers, bassist Dave Norwood, and drummer Chad Kinney. The group crafts an intelligent strain of post-punk that fuses dissonance, melody, aggression, and emotion at high speed. Although rooted in D.C. hardcore like many acts placed in the emocore category, Seven Storey Mountain adds a distinctive desert-driven force to the approach. Their sharp melodic focus occasionally recalls the more mainstream leanings of bands such as the Foo Fighters. The debut EP, Based on a True Story, was tracked across late 1997 and early 1998. Close to four years elapsed before the first full-length appeared as 2002's Dividing by Zero on Deep Elm Records. Thick Records signed the band by fall 2006 and issued the subsequent album in January 2007.
