Biography
Singer and songwriter Shad Weathersby entered the world in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he spent his formative years. Music entered his life early through singing, followed by guitar lessons at age 14. Rock ensembles occupied his time throughout high school. He later enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana College and received a B.A. in social work upon completion of his studies.
After graduation Weathersby teamed with two friends to launch the folk-pop harmony outfit Huck's River, which shifted its base first to Colorado and then to California. The trio's eventual split opened the way for a solo deal with Dancing Cat Records, the imprint owned by George Winston, yielding the debut album Light Outside That Door in 1985.
Back in New Orleans, he assembled a fresh vocal group called the Hooligans. His sophomore effort, Dreamworld, surfaced on the Vertebrae label in 1995. Three years later came the spiritual set To Behold the Light, while 2004 brought the children's project Chomp Chomp on Singing Rock Records.
Operating a furniture refinishing company in New Orleans, Weathersby encountered steady demand for his services following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He finished his fifth album, The Beaten Path, which appeared on Rolling Road Records in 2007.
