Biography
Formed in St. Louis, Missouri in the latter half of the 2010s, indie rock band Shady Bug explores a fluid combination of sounds drawn from the 1990s, encompassing lo-fi textures, noise pop, and math rock elements. Singer/guitarist Hannah Rainey, guitarist Tom Krenning, bassist Chris Chartrand, and drummer Aaron O’Neill launched the project, whose debut album tbh idk appeared in 2017.
Todd Anderson supplied additional bass for the self-released effort, which also received a limited cassette edition from Pack Rat Records that April. The follow-up was tracked with Seth Engel at Pallet Sound in Chicago, again with Anderson handling bass duties, and surfaced as Lemon Lime—the group’s first release on Exploding in Sound—in March 2019.
