Biography
Shae Williams, a vocalist steeped in contemporary R&B, launched her performances while still young inside the church of her native Lake Charles, Louisiana. Early on she immersed herself in theatrical productions alongside choirs and bands, earning all-state honors in high school for her contributions to both the choir and the clarinet. At McNeese State she pursued a major in music performance, concentrating on jazz and classical idioms. Once college ended she relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, sharpening her stagecraft and securing further roles in live theater even as she steadily advanced toward a recording career. In 2012 she issued the six-track EP Undefined on her own, a contemporary R&B project stretching from the elegant, aching ballad “I’m Not the Same” to the more pop-oriented “Hard Head.” After reworking Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Williams followed with the independent single “Ready” in 2015.
