Biography
The band Shake Some Action! takes its name from a renowned album by the Flamin' Groovies and hails from Seattle, Washington, drawing deeply from pop traditions spanning the 1960s to the 1990s. James Hall, an Australian who relocated and built a dedicated following in the Pacific Northwest through his efforts with the Jeunes, established Shake Some Action! as its vocalist, guitarist, and primary composer. Although the Jeunes received positive coverage across the United States and United Kingdom thanks to two independently issued EPs, the group disbanded during the fall of 2005, leaving the bulk of their material unrecorded. Hall chose to base a solo project on the Jeunes' existing songs and withdrew to his personal studio, where he recorded twelve tracks, handling every instrument himself aside from the lead guitar parts supplied by ex-Jeunes guitarist David Bos. Upon finishing the recordings, Hall chose to issue the material under the Shake Some Action! moniker instead and assembled a lineup to perform the material live while promoting the release. Serving as the group's guitarists were Hall along with Bos, and they added bassist Gary Miller and drummer Chris Campbell, both drawn from the Seattle pop group the Scheme, to complete the rhythm section. The independent imprint Satellite 451 put out the self-titled Shake Some Action! debut album at the beginning of 2007.
