Biography
Originating as a Scottish neo-rockabilly quartet in the late '70s, Shakin' Pyramids coalesced around the twin guitarists James G. Creighton and Railroad Ken together with harmonica player Dave Duncan. The initial trio took to busking on the streets of Glasgow before landing a deal with Virgin. Their opening LP Skin 'Em Up was succeeded by an EP cut alongside skiffle star Lonnie Donegan, the key rock & roll influence in 1950s England who also scored the hit "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor [On the Bedpost Overnight]?". Shakin' Pyramids completed one further Virgin album, Celts & Cobras, yet the energy and verve of their debut had been replaced by a stultifying maturity, prompting the group to disband soon after.
