Originating in St. Louis, Missouri, the hard rock band Shame Club formed in 2000 under vocalist and guitarist Jon Lumley. Only after second guitarist Andy White and bass player Eric Eyster came aboard a couple of years later did their collective aim of revisiting 1970s influences such as Thin Lizzy and Aerosmith begin to materialize. The group’s debut album, Bad Idea Realized, appeared in 2003 and its successor, Vol., followed in 2004, yet both moved few units as essentially self-released projects sold mainly at live shows. Prospects remained bleak until powerhouse drummer Ken McCray joined soon afterward, at which point the newly meshed quartet started shaping a third album, Come On. After an initial self-release in 2007, Small Stone Records picked up the record in 2008.
