Biography
Virginia-based indie rocker Shane Hines issued Blues for Balalaika, Pts. 1-2 during 2001 and followed it with Sweet Soul Suicide in 2003, yet only his 2005 album Zoë brought widespread notice and critical praise. That project earned a Best Pop/Rock nomination at the 2006 Independent Music Awards, while Hines himself claimed three of the six honors presented at the Texas Songwriters Cruise. Additional momentum arrived when the track “My Hope Is” appeared on MTV’s The Real World: Key West. During promotional tours, bassist Mr. Thumbs and drummer Kevin Bearce joined Hines, creating the band Shane Hines and the Trance. Throughout 2007 the group performed live dates and devoted time to composing and tracking material intended for a fourth album.
