Biography
Shannon McArdle made her entry into music by becoming a member of the indie pop ensemble Mendoza Line in 1998. Relocating to New York City alongside Pete Hoffman and Timothy Bracy, she received a guitar from Bracy that prompted her initial attempts at songwriting and supplied several of those early pieces for the group’s 2000 release, We’re All in This Alone. Although she remained active with Mendoza Line, her association with Bracy had shifted by 2004 into both a working partnership and a romantic relationship. The pair formed the side project Slow Dazzle and issued The View from the Floor on Misra in 2005. They wed that same year, yet McArdle ended the marriage in the opening months of 2007 and withdrew from performing. She resumed work in July 2007 by reaching out to Adam D. Gold, another former Mendoza Line participant, to develop new material. The sessions produced Summer of the Whore, issued by Bar None Records in August 2008.
