Shar

Formed during the summer of 1999 in Luzern, Switzerland, the experimental trio Shar united Judy Dunaway, Ilja Komarov, and Trixa Arnold. Dunaway occupied the group’s center, having already earned recognition for her balloon compositions. The ensemble acquires its sharply dissonant edge from her unsettling plastic scraping. Bassist Komarov arrived from the Estonian ensemble Ne Zhdali, while drummer Arnold previously belonged to Les Halmas. In early 2002 the trio issued its debut album, Pop, on Outer Realm records.
