Biography
Sharon Roshell serves as a singer, songwriter, pastor, and psalmist from Louisville, Kentucky, where her intense vocal style and fervent expression earned her the informal designation of contemporary gospel music's "Anointed Sweetheart." Born in North Carolina, she grew up performing regularly in churches and nursing homes with her parents and brother, each of whom possessed the same natural musical gifts. Following high school graduation she intended to train as a nurse, yet an unexpected meeting with a traveling preacher at a tent revival redirected her path toward expressing her faith through song. After completing studies at Valor Christian College and earning a degree in Praise & Worship Leadership, she relocated to Baltimore to take the role of worship leader at Kingdom Life Church while refining her abilities as a songwriter. Her initial release, the God Is Bigger EP, appeared in 2005, with the full-length album Never Thirst Again following in 2008. Momentum built in 2014 upon the arrival of Church Girl 20:14, a ten-track set highlighted by the commanding title track ("The Church Girl Anthem") and its thematic video. Appearances with artists such as Tye Tribbett, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, and Michael W. Smith broadened her reach within gospel circles, a trajectory reinforced by the 2018 single "I Sing," issued prior to the concert recording Declare and Decree Live in 2019.
