Biography
Born in Tyler, Texas, Shaun Groves first forged his connection to God while in sixth grade. That discovery of faith propelled him toward music with focused drive and skill. As a saxophonist, he advanced from last chair to first chair in the school band within just a few months through sheer commitment. He later enrolled at Baylor University on a full private scholarship for music studies. There he encountered the woman who would become his wife, and he has long acknowledged her role in introducing him to popular music. Upon completing a bachelor’s degree in music composition, Groves relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, intent on establishing himself as a songwriter. He soon took a position he describes as “a tape copy guy” at Brentwood/Benson Publishing. That brief stint yielded both a development deal with the company and a recording contract with Rocketown Records in 2000. His first album, Invitation to Eavesdrop, appeared in the summer of 2001.
