Biography
Sheila Ryan’s connection to music reaches back to her childhood in Limerick, Ireland, where songs formed a steady part of daily life. On the family farm she and her father often harmonized while handling chores, fostering an early and lasting regard for Celtic traditions. Once she reached her teenage years she broadened her activities, performing with folk ensembles, joining a traveling variety show, and singing in a country band that took her across Ireland. Prior to her move to Canada she made several appearances on radio and television broadcasts in the U.K. After settling in Victoria, British Columbia, she continued presenting concerts and collaborating with other musicians throughout British Columbia, Alberta, and the Yukon Territory. Festival engagements later took her to venues in Ireland, England, Canada, and the United States.
