Shinobu

In autumn 2002, Shinobu’s vocalist and guitarist Mike Moroboshi-Huguenor and drummer Jon Fu, then members of the San Jose punk group Argyle, chose to pursue a different direction. Operating from their San Jose base, the pair began informal collaboration shaped by the Weakerthans and Death Cab for Cutie. Bassist Bob Vielma and guitarist Vince were soon brought aboard, solidifying the indie-rock lineup that became Shinobu. The following summer Vince exited; local jazz veteran Matt Keegan took over on guitar. After issuing assorted self-released demos and appearing on compilations, the band made its label debut on Let's Go Records with Herostratus vs. Time. Worstward Ho! appeared on Asian Man the next September.
