Shiva

Formed in 1981, the British progressive rock and metal fusion group originated from the efforts of multi-instrumentalist John Hall, who handled vocals, guitar, and keyboards. The lineup expanded with the inclusion of bassist and keyboardist Andy Skuse along with drummer Chris Logan, leading to a 1982 deal with Heavy Metal Records. Their initial release, Firedance, showcased intricate and original compositions that evoked comparisons to Rush, Deep Purple, and Uriah Heep among favorable critics. While the instrumental execution received flawless praise, the vocal performances drew milder responses. In 1984, Phil Williams took over drumming duties from Logan. A follow-up effort titled Continuance was captured in the studio but remained unreleased for more than two decades until its eventual appearance in 2004.
