Biography
Born on December 29, 1952, in Hiroshima, Japanese rock vocalist Shogo Hamada attended Mitsuta High School and later Kanagawa University before withdrawing after two years. His first involvement in the music industry occurred in the early 1970s as a member of AIDO, the support band for pop star Takuro Yoshida. Striking out alone, he issued his debut solo album in 1976, an effort whose title translates roughly to Far from One's Birthplace. The 1979 album Time of Your Life confirmed his independent stature, earning him a loyal audience among Japanese youth, and he has remained a fixture on the pop charts ever since.
