Daniel Robinson, a native of Newton, NH, who performs on guitar and vocals, launched Shroud of Bereavement as a solo project in 1996. Over the next five years and through multiple demos the effort matured into a complete ensemble that welcomed vocalist Kelly Ann Sullivan, keyboardist Julie Beaulieu, synth specialist Mike Soucy, bassist David Starratt, and drummer Danny Clarke. The musicians define their style as neo-classical death/doom metal. Their first official release arrived in 2003 as a self-titled EP, followed in 2004 by the single “A Rose for a Dying Muse.” Two projects appeared in 2005: the compilation Of Ages, which collected early recordings, and the band’s debut full-length album, Alone Beside Her.
