Biography
Hailing from Stamford, Connecticut, Sicboy crafts an intelligent yet impudent strain of contemporary rock by drawing on touchstones such as Elliott Smith, Deftones, Radiohead, Helmet, and Portishead. The ensemble originated in 1996 in Stamford, Connecticut, with singer/songwriter John Tate joined by guitarists Danny Frattaroli and Ant Valenzisi, bassist Drew Trudeau, and drummer Chris Trudeau. To weave additional variety into their sonic palette, Sicboy enlists the mixing expertise of turntable specialist Todd Emmerson. Their first album, Artificial Flavors, surfaced in autumn 2000 through Toronto’s Attack Records & Filmworks, followed by the self-released EPs Tease in 2002 and the aptly named 2004 two years afterward.
