Biography
Swedish indie pop outfit Simian Ghost originated as a solo endeavor from singer/songwriter Sebastian Arnström. The project’s debut full-length arrived in 2011 under the title Infinite Traffic Everywhere, blending jagged post-rock elements with hazy chillwave textures and swiftly earning widespread praise throughout Sweden. Later that same year Arnström issued the seven-song EP Lovelorn, after which he enlarged the lineup by bringing in Erik Klinga and Mathias Zachrisson. Now operating as a trio, the group tracked its sophomore album Youth during 2012; the record again drew strong notices across the continent and prompted multiple BBC sessions plus several live appearances in the U.K. Additional material surfaced soon afterward, among them the 2012 EP Autumn Slowmo together with assorted singles. Ahead of the 2014 album The Veil, Arnström once more broadened the roster, adding part-time vocalist Maja Agnevik and permanent bassist Wilhelm Magnusson. In the same year the American imprint Red Eye Transit reissued Youth with five bonus tracks attached. Armed with a fresh Sony/BMG publishing agreement, the band commenced work on its fourth long-player, the buoyant self-titled Simian Ghost, which surfaced in September 2017.
