Biography
The project Simulation brings together Laura Callier of Gel Set and Whitney Johnson of Matchess. Their recordings, including the 2019 release Death's Head Speaks, merge abstract techno rhythms, ethereal layers, and spectral vocals into transcendent, fluid dance music.
Although the pair first crossed paths in Chicago, they launched Simulation during a 2015 tour. A paranormal encounter at a Montana hotel, combined with assorted setbacks and cancelled performances, prompted them to collaborate musically for the rest of the dates instead of staging their separate solo sets. Eye Vybe Records issued the duo’s debut cassette, Nalumbanet, in 2016. Callier moved to Los Angeles the following year, yet the two sustained their partnership, resulting in the appearance of Death's Head Speaks on Hausu Mountain in 2019.
