Biography
Originating as the solo venture of Sindri Már Sigfússon—the Reykjavik-born founder, singer, and songwriter behind Seabear—the endeavor first appeared under the name Sin Fang Bous and later shortened to Sin Fang once its initial album had been issued. Sigfússon had begun Seabear on his own before expanding the lineup with additional musicians. Under the Sin Fang Bous moniker he explored comparable sonic ground, blending 1960s pop, contemporary indie rock, and traces of traditional Icelandic folk. The project’s first full-length, Clangour, appeared on Morr Music in 2009. Sigfússon removed “Bous” from the title in 2011 and issued the follow-up Summer Echoes simply as Sin Fang. Early 2013 brought Flowers, an album that shifted the sound toward broader, more anthemic arrangements. Spaceland arrived in 2016, retaining an intimate atmosphere while replacing remaining folk traces with glitchy electronics; fellow Nordic solo artists Jónsi, Sóley, and Farao contributed to the record.
