Sweden’s Sinners feature Sven Köhler on vocals, Michael Sellers and Henki Van Den Born on guitar, David Sellers on bass and Kiddie Manzin on drums. The quintet comes closest among Swedish acts to replicating the taut, muscular R&B approach long associated with the UK’s Godfathers. Their stage outfits mirror that same preference for sharp suits, while their performances consistently demonstrate both rigorous preparation and instrumental precision. The group first took shape in 1983, when its members were still immersed in Sweden’s emerging garage-rock circuit. Although they have issued numerous recordings over the years, Sinners remain first and foremost a live proposition; like the Godfathers, they have yet to translate their onstage command into an equally gripping studio album. Their strongest collection remains 1993’s Fly With Us, which contains at least three standout tracks: “Undressed To Kill,” “Love Don’t Pay My Bills” and “Heading South.”
