Originating in Rochester, New York’s proudly blue-collar environment, the metalcore outfit Sirens & Sailors forged their standing through nonstop D.I.Y. touring and a series of self-released and independent recordings that captured the exacting yet ferocious force of their sound. Vocalist Kyle Bihrle and guitarist Jimm Lindsay launched the band in 2005, initially joined by guitarist Kevin Mahle, bassist John Turner, and drummer Josh Deni. The original configuration began performing steadily around Rochester and issued its first recording, a self-titled self-released EP, in physical format during 2007 before it reappeared as a digital download in 2010. Departures by Deni and Mahle occurred in 2008, prompting Doug Court to join on drums and Todd Golder to assume guitar duties. Sirens & Sailors then issued their debut full-length, Still Breathing, on their own imprint in 2010 and supported it with tours across the East Coast and Midwest alongside Though She Wrote, Affiance, Us from Outside, and Serianna. John Turner exited in 2011, after which Nick Lord took over bass. A partnership with Tragic Hero Records followed in 2012, resulting in the release of the EP Wasteland and the single “You and Die.” Extensive road work filled the ensuing year, with the band headlining intimate shows and supporting Belie My Burial, the World We Knew, the Air I Breathe, and Everyone Dies in Utah on larger bills. Nick Lord departed by the close of 2012 and Steve Goupil stepped in on bass while the group aligned with Artery Recordings, distributed through the established indie label Razor & Tie. Their second full-length, Skeletons, was tracked in 2013 and surfaced that fall following multiple tour cycles and ahead of additional dates already booked.
