Sivu

British singer-songwriter James Page crafts refined yet frequently somber indie pop under the alias Sivu. Raised in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, he devoted his adolescent years to bass duties in various indie and punk outfits before relocating to London in pursuit of broader artistic scope. Drawing inspiration from boundary-pushing pop figures such as Björk and Beck, Page had already begun quietly developing solo work when he encountered Charlie Andrew, producer for Alt-J, in 2011. Their ensuing collaboration yielded Sivu’s first single, “Better Man Than He,” accompanied by a striking video that captured Page performing inside an MRI scanner at St. Bart’s Hospital in London. A 2013 EP titled I Lost Myself, together with several additional singles, prompted comparisons to Wild Beasts, Gotye, and Alt-J; the last of these invited Page to contribute a guest vocal on their 2014 release This Is All Yours. His first full-length effort, Something on High, appeared that September.
