Biography
Six Finger Satellite, the indie electro-rock futurists, came together in Rhode Island during 1992. The initial lineup featured singer/keyboardist J. Ryan alongside guitarists John MacLean and Peter Phillips, bassist Chris Dixon, and drummer Rick Pelletier. Their Sub Pop label debut EP Weapon appeared soon afterward, with the full-length The Pigeon Is the Most Popular Bird arriving in 1993. Phillips and Dixon had already departed by the release of 1994's Machine Cuisine 10", an effort tracked solely on electronic instruments, while bassist James Apt joined in time for the next record, 1995's Severe Exposure. Paranormalized marked the group's return the following year, and Law of Ruins surfaced in 1998. Following a long hiatus, the band reconvened in 2007. They ultimately remixed and issued the album Half Control in 2009, a project first captured in 2001 and then abandoned after the group's initial split. Anchor Brain put out A Good Year for the Heavy Stuff later the same year.
