Emerging in 2006 from the remains of the predecessor groups Mothercake and Half Man, the Swedish band Skånska Mord took its moniker from a well-known television program and rendered it roughly as “South Sweden Homicide.” Linking the psychedelic and heavy-rock textures of the 1970s with the stoner-rock currents of the 1990s and subsequent decades while bypassing the 1980s entirely, the lineup—harmonica-wielding vocalist Jan Bengtsson, guitarists Patrik Berglin and Petter Englund, bassist Patric Carlsson, and drummer Thomas Jönsson—wove a singular amalgam of Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Deep Purple, and Fu Manchu across the 2010 debut album The Last Supper.
