Rapper and producer $kinny specializes in atmospheric, hard-hitting tracks that layer dense mood with hallucinatory vocal hooks. His American mother and Saudi Arabian father gave him a bicultural foundation that directly shaped the distinctive sonic identity he fully realized on the 2019 album Thank You for Nothing.
Born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1988, $kinny spent his early life shuttling between Saudi Arabia and the United States before establishing himself in Los Angeles, where he entered the music business during the 2010s. He initially focused on production and songwriting before issuing his own material, beginning with the 2014 mixtape Ghetto Disneyland. Subsequent EPs followed: 1999 Parachutes in 2016 and Late Night Blvd in 2017, the latter containing a guest verse by Freddie Gibbs on the track “Cool Kids.” His first studio album, Thank You for Nothing, was released in September 2019.
