Biography
Montreal outfit Slaves on Dope formed in 1994 and takes distinct satisfaction in having bypassed the prevailing grunge current of the nineties, ultimately maturing into one of Canada’s most severe heavy metal outfits and securing the first artist contract on Ozzy Osbourne’s Divine Recordings imprint. The lineup comprises vocalist Jason Rockman, guitarist Kevin Jardine, bassist Frank Salvaggio, and percussionist Rob Urbani. Before reaching that plateau the four operated as a self-sufficient hard-rock unit intent on building a professional path. Five years after forming, they relocated to Los Angeles to pursue that objective. The previous year they had issued the independent demo Klepto, whose resulting attention produced live opportunities and backing from Papa Roach and System of a Down. With the new century came their signing to Ozzy and the October 2000 release of the debut album Inches From the Mainline. Following a brief pause the band resurfaced in 2003 with Metafour.
