Biography
Takahiro Chiba, a fashion designer based in Sapporo, Japan, produces the whimsical electronic sounds of Slowly Minute. He first began creating music during his teenage years in the late 1990s. Nobukazu Takemura noticed the playful blend of live instrumentation and electronics in Chiba’s work along with its innocent, nearly childlike character, leading him to sign the artist to Childisc and issue the debut album Farmer’s Cafe in 2001. Over the following years Chiba issued several Slowly Minute projects, among them the full-lengths Tomorrow World and Somewhere in Recollections plus the single Wish a Happiness, while simultaneously operating the one-man dream-pop project Lopops. Bubble Core brought Tomorrow World to American listeners in fall 2004, with a complete Lopops album slated for release before year’s end.
