Biography
Formed on the West Coast during the mid-'90s, the alterna-rock quartet Slowrush united Rob Daiker on vocals and guitar, Garth Parker on guitar, Caleb Spiegel on bass, and Adrian Ost on drums after each musician had spent time in other area groups. Taking cues from artists including Prince, Stone Temple Pilots, Sly & the Family Stone, Bauhaus, and Bon Jovi, the band—first known as Generator—issued its self-titled debut independently in 1998. Their next project, Fashion Brain, quickly earned a contract with Epic Records, though the material underwent a sonic overhaul before emerging as Volume on the major label in early 2000.
