Biography
Formed in St. Louis toward the end of 2002, So Many Dynamos drew early inspiration from Les Savy Fav and the Dismemberment Plan. The quartet comprises Ryan Wasoba on guitar and vocals, Aaron Stovall on keyboards and vocals, Griffin Kay on guitar and vocals, and Clayton Kunstel on drums. After issuing an EP through Ambivalent Records in summer 2003, the group unveiled its first full-length album, When I Explode—mixed by the Dismemberment Plan’s Jason Caddell—on Skrocki Records the following year. September 2006 brought Flashlights, an album that broadened the ensemble’s palette through the addition of a four-piece horn section and a 30-member choir. Beyond serving as Emperor X’s touring backing band, So Many Dynamos has shared stages with We Versus the Shark and Thunderbirds Are Now!
