Biography
Formed in 1980, the Hungarian progressive rock outfit Solaris originated with guitarist István Cziglán, keyboardist Róbert Erdész, flutist Attila Kollár, bassist Attila Seres, and drummer Vilmos Tóth. Both the band’s name and the subject matter of every song derive from classic science fiction. Its self-titled debut appeared the same year. Subsequent contributors have included guitarist Csaba Bogdán, bassists Tamás Pócs and Gábor Kisszabó, and drummers László Gömör and Ferenc Raus. Across its career the group has issued additional albums: Marsbéli Krónikák -- Martian Chronicles (1984; reissued as Martian Chronicles in Japan in 1989 and reissued in Hungary under the original title in 1995), Solaris 1990 (1990), Live in Los Angeles (1996), Nostradamus (1999), and Los Angeles 2026 (2000).
