Solos

Formed as a partnership between Spencer Seim, the guitarist from Hella, and folksy singer/songwriter Aaron Ross—who had previously joined Hella during its phase of testing a larger ensemble—Solos merges their individual approaches into a result that is both erratic and delightfully bubbly. With Seim providing the drumming and Ross taking care of vocals along with guitar work, the project's output delivers an energetic yet tuneful quality that envelops audiences in an urgent happiness, standing apart from the intense, rough edges associated with Hella. The pair entered the recording studio alongside producer Guy Massey to produce their first full album, Beast of Both Worlds, issued by Joyful Noise in 2012.
