Biography
This UK rap outfit laid down its inaugural release on the self-established Little Rascool Records imprint before switching to the niche London, England imprint Kold Sweat. Their 1992 offering ‘Crazy Mad Flow’, though derivative, stood out for its solid execution and remained the strongest track they had cut ahead of unveiling the debut full-length The Mighty Son Of Noise. Echoing Naughty By Nature, Son Of Noise forfeited a distinct voice while copying the hardcore posture of American counterparts such as Ice Cube and Slick Rick, complete with repeated allusions to firearms and narcotics transactions. That shortcoming could be overlooked, yet the group’s public support for Buju Banton’s violent homophobic declarations drew justified condemnation from multiple reviewers. By the time of the 1995 follow-up, Son Of Noise had to obtain backing from the German label Tribal House even while retaining their own imprint. Access Denied: Bullshit & Politics Pt. 1 centered on the UK music industry’s indifference to homegrown rappers.
