Sonny Davis shared a twin bond with Honey Davis, and together they performed regularly as the Davis Twins on multiple well-liked West Virginia radio broadcasts that spanned the closing years of the 1930s into the final stretch of the 1950s. Distinction must be made from the Davis Sisters, an ensemble built around four singing relatives.

Sleepy Jeffers, a disc jockey and performer married to Honey, produced what appear to be the sole preserved recordings of the pair, among them the selections “Pretending Is a Game” and “My Blackbirds Are All Bluebirds Now.” Those sides first appeared on the Starday imprint in 1957; much like the remainder of that label’s output as a stronghold of honky tonk and rockabilly, the performances have resurfaced across assorted compilation releases.
