Sonny Greenwich

Sonny Greenwich stands among Canada's foremost guitarists, his idiosyncratic approach to the instrument proving consistently engaging and frequently unexpected. Early appearances were limited to Toronto venues, after which he performed with Charles Lloyd during a 1965 New York engagement, joined John Handy on the road from 1966 to 1967, and contributed to a 1967 Hank Mobley date. Although Greenwich nearly entered Miles Davis's group in 1969, he instead took up residence in Quebec, moving to Montreal in 1974, and later led dates for Sackville, PM, Justin Time, and his own Kleo imprint.
