Biography
In the summer of 2001, what started as a duo blossomed into the avant-garde post-metal ensemble Sons of Alpha Centauri, headquartered in London’s Thames Gateway Swale district. Bassist Nick Hannon and guitarist Marlon King launched the instrumental venture after composing an extensive catalog of material, then broadened the lineup by recruiting Stevie B. for drumming responsibilities and enlisting Andrew Blake to supply textures and ambience. The project has consistently welcomed outside contributors, among them Australian artist Seldon Hunt for a 2005 collaboration. A demo surfaced with extremely limited circulation in 2004, yet the self-titled debut album Sons of Alpha Centauri did not appear until 2007 on Sound Devastation Records. Two years later came Last Day of Summer through UnderDogma Records, alongside Ceremony to the Sunset, a Yawning Sons release featuring Sons of Alpha Centauri’s King, Hannon, and Stevie B. together with guitarist Gary Arce and additional participants.
