Biography
In 2007 the photogenic brothers Adam Clark on guitar and mandolin, Ashley Clark on lead vocals, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, and Austin Clark on background vocals and resonator guitar formed the country-pop trio Sons of Sylvia. Together with their three additional siblings Aaron, Andrew, and Alan Clark, the same musicians had previously constituted the sextet Clark Family Experience, which released one album on Curb Records in 2002 before the group dissolved and entered bankruptcy the following year. Adam, Ashley, and Austin reassembled as the Clark Brothers, began playing live shows that same year, and captured first place on Fox’s The Next Great American Band. The win earned them a contract with Universal South Records and led the trio to adopt the name Sons of Sylvia in 2009.
After further label upheaval removed their recording arrangement, they moved to Interscope Records/19 Recordings in 2010. Their debut album Revelation appeared that year, and the brothers supported it by touring alongside Carrie Underwood, who had already featured Sons of Sylvia on the song “What Can I Say” from her 2009 album Play On.
