Biography
Born into a griot lineage, Koite acquired proficiency on the kora and balafon during his early years. Beginning in 1975, he appeared with assorted ensembles at hotels and clubs throughout Dakar, northern France, and Paris. Appearances in the French capital propelled him to prominence on the European festival circuit during the 1980s.
