Detroit-based experimental duo South South Million first surfaced in 2011 when Zoos of Berlin frontmen Trevor Naud and Daniel I. Clark launched it as a secondary endeavor. The pair fuses found sounds and samples with live instrumentation plus occasional vocals, yielding pop-rooted sound art that extends directly from their established approach in Zoos.

Although traces of sound collage, electro-acoustic music, ambient forms, and jazz appear throughout the work, Naud and Clark maintain the pronounced melodic emphasis that defines every project they undertake. South South Million issued their own six-song EP Satellite Gallery without label support in September 2011. They later aligned with New York-based Triple Down Records, which released the group’s atmospheric debut LP Wind Hand Caught in the Door in 2012.

For the ensuing six years the duo concentrated chiefly on Zoos of Berlin, delivering albums in 2013 and 2016, before reactivating South South Million in 2018 through the all-instrumental Ain't Lines.
