Biography
Spaced Out originated in Montreal when Antoine Fafard assembled the band in 1998. Martin Maheux, Mathieu Bouchard, and Eric St-Jean joined soon afterward to round out the initial roster. The musicians set about crafting jazz-infused progressive rock drawn from an eclectic array of sources. Among the cited influences were Igor Stravinksy, John Mclaughlin, Trevor Rabin, Keith Emerson, and Frank Zappa. Unicorn Records issued the self-titled debut album in 2000. Bouchard left the lineup shortly after the record appeared, whereupon Louis Cote stepped in as his replacement. The follow-up, Eponymus II, surfaced the next year in 2001.
