Biography
Sparklejet originated during 1996 inside Fresno, California, as a lean, unadorned rock group. The band drew notice through a Billboard magazine profile in one of the publication’s Best New Artist roundups, placed material on ESPN’s Extreme Games broadcasts, and earned comparisons to the Replacements, the Kinks, and the Rolling Stones. Its opening three albums—Soap in 1997, This Years Model in 1998, and Bar Guest in 2001—proved substantial enough to secure the involvement of celebrated “recorder” Steve Albini, who produced the quartet’s subsequent full-length, Beyond the Beyond, for Long Live Crime Records.
