Biography
Spectral Park represents the creative outlet of Luke Donovan, who fuses sampled elements with high-energy garage pop to generate an intense psychedelic assault. Based in Southampton, England, this multi-instrumentalist salvaged a discarded collection of vintage vinyl from the sidewalk and reworked the material into tracks that evoked the driving momentum of the Amboy Dukes alongside the untamed sonic textures associated with legendary producer Joe Meek. Spectral Park’s initial offering surfaced toward the end of 2011 via the Factory Peeled EP, highlighted by the jangly track “Pale Glistens.” In the opening months of 2012 Donovan issued the single “L’Appel du Vide,” a frenzied psych-pop number that previewed the band’s self-titled debut album, released by Mexican Summer in February 2013.
