Biography
What began as an experimental recording project led by a pair of drummers gradually expanded into an angular indie rock supergroup once additional musicians joined. Laura King of Bat Fangs and Thomas Simpson of the Love Language originated the idea by recording themselves performing in unison, then circulating those rhythm tracks to associates including R. Ring/Breeders vocalist Kelly Deal, Superchunk's Mac McCaughan, singer/songwriter Ryan Gustafson, and others. Growing involvement prompted the core lineup to enlarge with the addition of Polvo's Ash Bowie and Charles Chace of the Paul Swest. The remote collaboration produced results that encompassed groove-heavy rockers, blown-out noise jams, and Krautrock-tinged instrumentals led by modular synth tones. Ten tracks were compiled for the debut album Volume One, issued in January of 2021 by Don Giovanni Records.
