Spellbound

Formed in 1984, this Swedish metal quintet brought together vocalist Hans Froberg, guitarists J.J. Marsh and Al Strandberg, bassist Thompson, and drummer Ola Strandberg. Their first exposure arrived through a contribution to Sonet’s Swedish Metal compilation, which earned the group a recording contract. The resulting album Breaking The Spell appeared later that year, blending influences from Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and Europe while standing out through Froberg’s commanding vocal presence. Rockin’ Reckless followed as a near replica of the debut and signaled that fresh ideas had already run dry after a single release. The band’s ties to Sonet dissolved in 1987, and no further activity has surfaced since.
