Biography
Spoilers deliver a high-velocity barrage of pop-punk rooted in the fertile British underground punk milieu of the late 1980s and early 1990s, a sound fully displayed on their 2018 long-player Roundabouts.
The quartet came together in Canterbury, U.K., comprising Dan Goatham on vocals and guitars, Ben Davis on guitars, Leon Packer on drums, and Stuart Randall on bass; each member had prior experience in other U.K. punk outfits. Early-1990s punk outfits such as Snuff, Leatherface, Mega City Four, and Goober Patrol shaped their approach, which merged the raw edge of those groups with the melodic sensibilities typical of bands later featured on Fat Wreck Chords. Their debut EP, Stay Afloat, surfaced in 2015 through Boss Tuneage; frequent gigs and support slots quickly built an audience. The next year brought a split single alongside the No Marks, after which the group tracked their first album in 2017. Boss Tuneage issued Roundabouts the following year, coupling it with Recently Re-Released, a compilation of earlier tracks and demos.
